Social Security Disability for Family Members
Dallas, Texas, Disability Insurance and Family Benefits Lawyer
Many of our clients must find a way to care for a disabled child through the age of 18, or have lost their spouse and primary wage earner. At the Law Office of Ronald D. Honig in Dallas, Texas, we help clients who are entitled to Social Security Disability Family Benefits.
Types of Family Benefits Available
To qualify for Disabled Adult Child Benefits (DAC), your child must have been disabled before the age of 22. Also, the parent must have worked for a certain period of time prior to retirement, or be deceased. The Social Security Administration will use the same criteria to evaluate your child as they use with adults.
Disabled Widow/Widower Benefits (DWB) Benefits are available for surviving spouses who meet certain criteria. You must be between the ages of 50 and 60 and married to their deceased spouse at the time of his or her death. In addition, you must provide that you became disabled within seven years of the date of your spouse’s death.
